Inspired by the story of the Brothers Grimm, this portrait represents Rosamund in Dornröschen.
Sleeping Beauty sleeps for 100 years surrounded by a rosebush which forms a thick wall of thorns.
In the background we see a green forest that seems to extend semi-transparently into the portrait.
Sleeping Beauty and the forest sleep as one unit pierced by a giant rose stem.
The rose stem and a red petal cover the woman's face.
The original portrait of the dancer Estelle Reed is taken by the Dutch photographer Paul Citroen, 1931.
The rose stem and petal are vintage images from a 1970s issue of the French magazine 'Realities'.
